MacOS Ventura is the latest version of Apple’s operating system for Mac computers, released in fall 2022. It introduces many new features and improvements that enhance the user experience, productivity, and security of Mac users. Here are some of the best new features in MacOS Ventura:
- Stage Manager: This feature allows you to organize your open apps on the side of the screen, while centering the one you are working on. You can also drag and drop files from the desktop to the minimized app windows to import them quickly. Stage Manager can be activated from the Control Center and helps you focus on the task at hand12.
- Continuity Camera: This feature lets you use your iPhone’s camera as a webcam or a microphone for your Mac. You can also hand off FaceTime calls between your iPhone and Mac whenever you bring them near each other. Continuity Camera can be enabled from the Sound settings and enhances the video and audio quality of your online meetings13.
- Mail Updates: The Mail app has been updated with several new features, such as undo send, scheduled send, and follow-up reminders. You can now unsend an email within a few seconds after sending it, schedule an email to be sent at a later time and date, and get reminded to respond to an email that you have not replied to for a while. These features can be accessed from the compose window or the contextual menu of the Mail app14.
- Passkeys: Passkeys are a new way of signing in to websites without using passwords. They use Face ID or Touch ID to authenticate your identity and are stored in your iCloud Keychain. Passkeys are more secure than passwords, as they are end-to-end encrypted and do not require you to enter them on the website. Passkeys are supported by Safari and other apps that use the WebKit engine12.
- Shared Tab Groups: Safari has a new feature called Shared Tab Groups, which allows you to see and share the tabs that your friends and family are viewing in real-time. You can also create your own tab groups and sync them across your devices. Shared Tab Groups can be accessed from the Safari menu bar and make browsing the web more collaborative and fun12.
- Spotlight Updates: Spotlight has been improved with a richer design, more information, and better previews. You can now search for images in your photo library, text in your photos, movies, TV shows, and celebrities. You can also preview files from the search results and see more details about them. Spotlight can be launched from the menu bar or by pressing Command-Space14.
- Dedicated Apps for Clock and Weather: MacOS Ventura has new dedicated apps for Clock and Weather, which match the iOS ones. The Clock app lets you set alarms, timers, and world clocks, and also supports Focus mode. The Weather app shows you the current and forecasted weather conditions, as well as air quality and precipitation maps. You can also add widgets for Clock and Weather to your desktop or Notification Center3 .
These are some of the best new features in MacOS Ventura, but there are many more to explore and enjoy. MacOS Ventura is compatible with 2017 and later Macs and is available as a free update from the Mac App Store. If you want to learn more about MacOS Ventura, you can visit Apple’s website.
